Texas Rangers top prospect Jack Leiter throws in first game since June. Here's how he did
The No. 2 overall pick in the 2021 MLB Draft did not make his professional debut last season.
SURPRISE, Ariz. — Nobody was putting too much stock into how Texas Rangers minor-leaguers performed Friday over three scrimmages against Royals minor-leaguers.
The advanced prospects played at Surprise Stadium, where a decent crowd showed up to watch free baseball. Some were likely there to see Jack Leiter throw in his first game since the College World Series.
The right-hander, selected No. 2 overall last year, didn’t have the cleanest outing but didn’t allow any runs in what amounted to 1 1/3 innings. The Rangers rolled his second inning after he hit his pitch limit.
