The Sunday Read: A new year for Texas Rangers, a common-sense wish list for fans
The Rangers have likely done all of their heavy lifting this offseason, but can still do some popular things in 2022.
The new year has arrived, which means the holidays are over and the lawyers for MLB and the MLB Players Association might actually pick up the phone and call each other about ending this lockout.
That’s the expectation. That’s the hope. That’s the first step toward hammering out a new collective bargaining agreement and ensuring there is a 2022 season.
A new CBA is atop every baseball fan’s wish list for 2022.
After that, lists will vary from team to team. Most probably include signing a big-name free agent or making a big trade that will produce a chance at the World Series.
Texas Rangers fans have already seen their team make some big moves, though at the end of 2021. Expectations have been raised, possibly too high for a team that still isn’t quite ready.
The following is a list all Rangers fans are free to adopt as their own. It’s tempered, though not without some things that fans would want to see happen.
It also takes into consideration some of the Rangers’ thinking, both before the lockout and going forward after it ends. It is going to end. Right?
So, maybe this is a list of suggestions rather than a wish list, though this unbiased reporter and baseball fan would like to see these things happen.
