The future started to look better for the Texas Rangers on Nov. 28 and then much better about 24 hours later.
Second baseman Marcus Semien agreed to sign on for seven years and $175 million. Shortstop Corey Seager followed suit the next day for 10 years and $325 million.
But once the shock and novelty of the signings wore off, one of the first questions asked of club officials concerned the bevy of minor-league middle infielders whose paths to the majors were now blocked.
What position will they play? Which players will be packed up and shipped away for more roster upgrades?
Those questions are still unanswered six weeks later.
But maybe that is the Rangers’ answer.
