These three Texas Rangers can pack their bags for the All-Star Game
Kyle Gibson, Adolis Garcia and Joey Gallo are headed to Denver for the July 13 Midsummer Classic.
Right-hander Kyle Gibson, right fielder Joey Gallo and rookie center fielder Adolis Garcia were selected Sunday to the American League All-Star team.
Gibson was an easy choice for his first All-Star Game, which is scheduled for July 13 at Coors Field in Denver. He leads the AL with a 1.98 and also sports a 6-0 record and a 4.4 WAR (baseball-reference.com).
Gibson could be a candidate to start the game. His final start before the All-Star break is scheduled for Wednesday against Detroit at Globe Life Field, so he would be well-rested.
Garcia is the top rookie in the league, and his 20 home runs are tied for the league lead among outfielders.
He’s tied with Gallo, whose surge to end June elevated his candidacy for his second All-Star team (2019). Gallo leads MLB in walks (64) and has lifted his OPS to .880.
Gallo said that no one with MLB has contacted him about participating in the Home Run Derby, and he would not commit to participating if he is invited.
