Thursday Newsletter time: Texas Rangers land three prospects in Baseball America top 100. Two are ranked No. 25 and No. 26.
Ranking prospects is a fickle business. The Rangers briefly had five players in the top 100 last season.
The ever-changing world of prospect rankings has changed once again, with Baseball America releasing its preseason top 100 and including three players from the Texas Rangers organization.
The fine folks at BA didn’t pull any surprises. Right-hander Jack Leiter is ranked No. 25, third baseman Josh Jung is No. 26, and right-hander Cole Winn is ranked No. 61. At one point last season the Rangers had five, Leiter, Jung, Winn, Sam Huff and Justin Foscue.
Baseball America released its top 10 Rangers prospects last month. Ezequiel Duran was ranked No. 4 and Dustin Harris was No. 5.
John Moore, the Recliner Nerd, last week ranked Jung first, followed by Leiter and Winn (link can be found in the ICYMI section).
The most anticipated list — the BA organizational rankings — should be coming soon. The Rangers finished last season at No. 11, a 13-spot jump from the preseason. Entering the top 10 is a possibility.
Get tested at Choctaw Stadium
The Federal Emergency Management Agency, along with the state, Tarrant County and the city of Arlington have partnered to open a temporary drive-thru COVID testing site near Choctaw Stadium, formerly Globe Life Park.
Testing opened Wednesday and will remain open for three weeks. The site is located in Rangers Sienna Lot M parking lot at 1205 Pennant Dr. in Arlington. The only way into the site is by entering southbound on AT&T Way.
The tests are free and available to all ages. They will be available seven days a week from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. through Feb. 8, and results will be available in 24 to 36 hours.
Anyone who wants a test is asked to pre-register online. Please provide contact information to receive results and select an appointment time slot. Multiple people per car can get a test.
