Did you really think the Rangers could possibly be competitive by next year? The ownership and GM said this was going to be a process. You’re looking at 2 to 3 more years until they reach that point. Joey Gallo is a good player, the Rangers best player, but he is not Mark Texeira. Nor are teams trading away prospects like they did at that time. For fans going to bed pissed, I say, follow Frisco. There is a wave coming, and another behind them. This was the plan when they said TOTAL rebuild.
Not next year, but money is going to have to be spent eventually and keeping a good, popular player who wants to be here (unlike Teixeira) in an era of no Teixeira-like trades should be part of the rebuild process. You’re right about Frisco. Jung and Winn have star potential. Others have that potential.
I did just that. I went to bed pissed. Albeit it was early since I'm up at 2:00 am for work, I still went to bed pissed. I know nothing of the how the business world works in baseball, but I felt that Gallo was who the Rangers would build around. Our Mike Trout so to speak. I don't know if I'll tune into every game like I normally would, but I did jump on Frisco's website and ordered a couple of hats.
I just went back an read an article from 2017 on the Rangers/Braves trade from '07. I get the feeling we're hoping to catch that lightning in a bottle again.
Mark Teixiera (Gallo) & Ron Mahay (Joely) for 5 minor leaguers. Do you think we have an Elvis or Neftali in there from New York?
Q. Could/would the owners of baseball force oil boys out of franchise as was done with others for damaging the brand by not competing year after year?
The precedent on tanking (Astros, Pirates, Rays, Cubs) has been set. MLB has paved this path.

Frisco is very good, and the fan experience is great. The top prospects there should be in the majors next season.

I don’t. It’s a different time. Trades like that don’t happen any more.
Well my new Frisco hats should be here in a few days.
It would help if I read the comments above
