Thursday Newsletter time: Texas Rangers' 50th anniversary celebration is coming. Here's some of what they have in store.
First up is a Black Friday ticket sale covering every home game except the March 31 season opener.
Just in time for Black Friday, the Texas Rangers have rolled out some details for their 50th anniversary season and a $10 ticket deal for every home game except the March 31 season opener.
The Rangers have dubbed their promotion the Black Friday + Texas Rangers = $10 Tickets. Doesn’t exactly roll off the tongue, but it’s a pretty good the deal for those who want to watch baseball at Globe Life Field.
Beginning at midnight on Black Friday, Nov. 26, through 11:59 p.m. Cyber Monday, Nov. 29, fans will have the chance to buy tickets at $10 a pop. The seats are located in some sections of the 200 and 300 levels and Corner Mezzanine areas.
Fans will be limited to eight tickets per individual order. Some tickets for April will be limited.
The tickets will be on sale exclusively at texasrangers.com/specials.
Among the giveaways on the initial promotional schedule are bobbleheads of Nolan Ryan, Juan Gonzalez, Ivan Rodriguez, Adrian Beltre, Michael Young, Jim Sundberg and Charley Pride. There will also be sets of baseball cards from each decade that baseball has been played in Arlington.
More details will be made available closer to the season.
Rangers doing good
Rangers left-hander Taylor Hearn, the Royse City native, on Wednesday launched “Taylor Hearn’s Week of Giving,” during which he will take part in several outreach projects across the Metroplex.
“Thanksgiving is a time not just for giving thanks for what we have, but for giving a helping hand to others in need,” Hearn said in a news release. “I’m fortunate that I am in a position to give back to my community and am grateful for the partners who helped to make it possible.”
On Wednesday, Hearn visited Kennedy-Curry Middle School in Dallas to donate $100 Kroger gift cards to 52 families. On Friday, Hearn and other Rangers players will help hand out 250 Thanksgiving meals to preregistered families at the Texas Rangers Youth Academy, an event hosted by Buckner International.
Hearn will also help serve dinner Monday at the Arlington Life Shelter with teammates Matt Bush and John King. Hurtado’s BBQ in Arlington is assisting, so it’s going to be some good grub.
Hearn will also be supplying hats, gloves, and socks to the Arlington Life Shelter ahead of the cool winter months.
Catcher Jose Trevino did a lot of good last weekend. He held Trevino’s Toy Drive Classic, a youth baseball tournament in The Colony, with some help from his Rangers teammates. He will also hold a toy drive in his native Corpus Christi.
